July Selection
Song of Songs by Edward Wolfe
These beautiful book
illustrations were first drawn in 1930 for a new translation of The Song
of Songs but because of the Depression the project was abandoned.
It
was not until 50 years later Edward Wolfe met a master printer who could
do justice to these spontaneous free flowing illustrations that were drawn
in ink and gouache on Chinese silver paper.
Adrian
Lack at the Senecio Press specialised in photo–lithography and produced
an edition of prints that were faithful to the original drawings.
Each
print is signed by the artist
