Averil Burleigh was a painter and was married to
the painter C.H. Burleigh; her daughter was the artist Veronica Burleigh.
Averill was a versatile painter and showed at the Royal Academy, the Royal
Institute of Painters in Watercolour, the Society of Women Artists, the Sussex
Women’s Art Club and the Royal Cambrian Academy. She was elected an associate
of the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolour shortly before she died.Brighton Art Gallery held a memorial show in the year of her death. She
lived in Hove, Sussex.
