Alistair Grant was a painter, printmaker, artist in collage and teacher, born in London.
He attended Birmingham School of Art, 1941-3, and then spent four years in the Royal
Air Force. From 1947 to1950 he was at Royal College of Art, with a continuation scholarship, 1950-1. Grant taught printmaking at Royal College of Art, from 1955 where he became head of the department in 1970. He took the chair of print-making in 1984, retiring in 1990.  Grant showed at the Royal Academy, Artists International Association, and New English Art Club, at the Redfern, Piccadilly and Zwemmer Galleries and was a prize-winner at the Krakow Print Biennale in 1972.  The Victoria & Albert Museum, British provincial and many overseas galleries hold Grant’s work. There was a memorial show at Art First, 1997.
