Clifford Fishwick 1923-97 was a painter and teacher, He attended Liverpool School of Art,1940-2, then after Naval service returned to complete his studies, 1946-7, including art teacher's diploma. 
Fishwick
combined a busy painting career with teaching at Exeter College of Art, becoming principal, 1958-84. 
He was a member of the
Newlyn Society from 1952-83 and exhibited at the Penwith Society in1950s-1960s and had a solo show in 1983.   Over the years Fishwick's style changed as certain influences took effect, the Neo-Romantics, the Cornish painters and the second School of Paris painters such as Nicolas de Stael. His later work was darker, more loosely put together and more abstract.
