 FRANK ARCHER RWS (1912-1995)

Frank Archer was a painter, print-maker and teacher.  He studied at Eastbourne School of Art 1928-32, Brighton School of Art and the Royal College of Art 1932-8.  In 1938 he won the Prix de Rome for engraving.  He joined The Royal Society of Painters-Etchers in 1940 and became an Associate of the Royal Watercolour Society in 1972 and later was elected a fellow of the Society.   He exhibited at The Royal Academy, the Royal Watercolour Society, the Catto Gallery, London and in the provinces.  In 1990 he had retrospectives at the Royal Watercolour Society and the Catto Gallery, with another at Bankside Gallery in1992.  The British Council and Walker Gallery in Liverpool hold examples of his work.
