James Stroudley was a painter,
printmaker and teacher. He was born
and lived in London, studying at Clapham School of Art 1923-27, then the Royal
college of Art 1927-30. Stroudley
became a visiting lecturer at the Royal Academy Schools.
He showed at the Royal Academy, the Royal Society of British Artists, of
which he became a member in 1934 and at the Royal Society of Painters, Etchers
and Engravers. Public collections
in Bradford, Brighton, Coventry and Rochdale hold examples of this work.
