Karl Hagedorn 1889 - 1969 was a painter, commercial artist, teacher and fabric designer, born in Berlin.  He settled in England in 1905 training in textile production.  He attended Manchester School of Art, the Slade and in 1912 to 1913 he went to Paris where he was in the school run by Maurice Denis.  The British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum and Manchester City Art Gallery hold examples of his work
