Sheila
O'Sullivan Studied at Chelsea School of Art (Painting and Drawing) and Sir John Cass School of Art, Florence.
Sheila has enjoyed a full and exciting life from
her early years in New Zealand, dancing in the London West End shows of Ivor
Novello and Noel Coward, entertaining troups in World War II, travelling widely
throughout the world and continually expressing herself through her brilliantly
coloured paintings and drawings. Sheila’s
landscape and figurative oil paintings are full of dramatic and vibrant colour.
The pictures reveal her past as a dancer and her many travels throughout the
world. Her expressive use of oil paint is felt through the sensitive brush
strokes and impasto quality of the picture surface. The colours sing with
feeling of the landscape or envelop the figure creating a mysterious and magical
atmosphere. Sheila uses the aquarelle sketches initially made on her travels and
creates the radiant oil paintings in her Portobello Road studio.
