 Stuart studied at both Eastbourne and Wimbledon Schools of Art, specialising in theatre design but always taking an interest in fine art. 
After leaving Art school he worked as a theatre designer for twenty years for various repertory companies including the Gateway Theatre Chester, the Connaught Theatre Worthing and the Thorndike Theatre Leatherhead where he was head of design for fifteen years. Stuart also worked as freelance designer in Belfast, Hong Kong and around England including the West End where his favourite production was Stepping Out. 
Having left the theatre in 1986 Stuart took up his first love of painting and drawing as well as working as an events designer.  As an events designer he has worked very closely with corporate companies including Chase Manhattan Private Bank, Marks and Spencer and Peugeot as well as designing exclusive weddings and parties.   
Stuart has exhibited his paintings in both London and Surrey galleries and his work is held in many private and corporate collections in Great Britain and abroad.
