Tutor Stuart Stanley
Stuart studied art and theatre design at
Eastbourne and Wimbledon Schools of Art before following a successful
career as
a theatre and events designer, professional artist and gallery owner.
He worked for many international and well known companies such as Peugeot,
Marks and Spencer, Microsoft, Royal College of Nursing, the Arcadia Group; to
name but a few.
Stuart has used his knowledge and understanding of artistic practice,
history of art and theatrical design to create his own
painterly style. His skilful drawing underlies the freedom of
expression and masterly brush strokes he uses to create paintings full of light,
colour and atmosphere. Stuart is inspired by the beauty and shape of trees, the
changing skies, open landscapes and
dramatic coastlines.
The Workshops
Stuart has been running painting workshops for three years at The Studio
Art House and they have proved very popular with many people returning time and
time again.
The classes are very small with a maximum of 5 people, which allows each
student plenty of time for individual help.
The workshops are informal but Stuart encourages and
supports with friendly, expert help and advice so each person can
develop skills in oil or acrylic painting. With reference to techniques,
composition and drawing, Stuart gives guidance throughout the course helping
students discover their potential and enjoy their achievements
